Discarded library books
This
site-specific installation bridges Dakota State University’s history and
present. Constructed from discarded books borrowed from the Mundt Library, the
material used refers to traditional information technology (the printed word)
and the education mission of DSU. The acronym RGB connotes red, green, and
blue, which is the color model for electronic media like tablets, scanners, and
monitors, creating a visual and conceptual link to DSU’s technology mission.
RGB also refers to primary colors of light and the red, green, and blue
receptor cone cells in our eyes, physiologically responsible for our perception
of all colors.
